I have a Canon 30D which I just bought a few months ago and I have noticed something that seems a little strange to me.

The matter is regarding ISO setting and the number of pictures the camera says are remaining on the memory card. The higher I set ISO the fewer number of pictures it says are remaining.

I have a 2GB Lexar card which has just been formated.

I have two other digital cameras (Canon A710 and Sony H5) and they show the same number of pictures remaining regardless of ISO setting.

Is this normal or does it sound like a malfunction.

This is pretty Normal and do not worry about this.

At higher ISOs you'll have more digital noise. Because that noise shows up as finer details, JPEG doesn't compress as much and the file sizes are larger. Larger file sizes = less pictures remaining.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Take a shot at ISO 100 and at 1600 and look at the file sizes.
