Hi!

Is it possible that we use Auto Focus on Live View mode on MkIII?
(Like 40D, there is certain Custom Function we should enable, and hold down the AF-on button to engage Auto Focus during Live View mode)

If it possible, does anyone know how to do it?

Thank u..

According to the 1DM3 manual there is no AF when using the live view, as the live view was no designed to functionasit does on P&S camera's. Live view on the MarkIII is there to assist with detail work more than anything else.

if i am right i think AF is possible with the new Nikon D3 in Live mode.

Just one more point where the newly released Nikons edged over canon in giving the technology to Photographers. Not that Canon doesnt have or know about this.

Disclaimer- I am just another canon user really appreciating what Nikon has done to this market

You can push a button where the MrkIII will flip down the mirror and focus using it's standard AF points - that's how the D3/D300 works as well...

With the Nikon's there's an additional mode where the sensor is used to focus instead of the regular AF sensors working off the back mirror This is where you don't temporary loose the Liveview when the mirror is in the way but the focusing is slower `a la P&S, but the focusing point can be designated to be anywhere on the sensor instead

Hi NHL!

Could you be more spesific what button to engage AF when using Live View mode on MkIII??

Already tried to press AF-ON button (like 40D) but still can't use AF on Live View..

And already tried to explore the C.Fn, there is no C Fn. option for AF on live view like 40D..

Thanks for the reply..

Unfortunately the MkIII does not work this way. You must manually focus in Live View mode... Both the 40D and the MkIII have an "AF ON" button, but this button only works with Live View on the 40D. I'm hoping that there will be a MkIII firmware update that will make the MkIII's AF-ON button work like the 40D's in Live View mode. It is really, really handy for over-the-head grab shots etc...
