If a price looks too good to be true....

Suggested reading:

How to buy a digital camera without being robbed

You'll find customer reviews of the vendor you're looking at this link. Scroll down and start reading them. Then, then compare the tactics used to the tactics mentioned in the article I posted a link to.

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/USA_Photo_Nation

Always check a vendor using http://www.resellerratings.com (they're better than most review sites about keeping phoney reviews out). If they're not listed, or have a small number of reviews, I'd avoid them.

Suggested vendor:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com

Or, if you want to save a few dollars more, depending on the exact configuration, also check out this vendor (but, I'd go with B&H if the price was close):

http://www.beachcamera.com or http://www.buydig.com

If you see a camera advertised for much less, caveat emptor. There are a lot of Brooklyn based scam artists around with nice looking web sites (they seem to be able to get away with it there).

Bear, please keep in mind that many people change the format of the boards so that there is a white background instead of a black one when they read posts. Your yellow font is completely unreadable on a white background.

Looks crooked to me. I saw it at Cicuit City in last week sales flyer for $1399 then an addtional 10% off for store pick up and a free printer!!! Of course they didn't have any and you could't even slelect store pick up when you got it in your shopping cart. I called the store and the order center to complain and they said they were pulling the ad from the website and there was nothing they could do. They did stop the 40D page from coming up but you could still select it from the list and put it in your cart.

So the deal was really just 1399 plus shipping.(No store had them) So I took it to Best Buy (they had itin stock)and they matched price and I'm the proud owner of a 40D. My thinking is a hundred bucks is about all I was going to get off anywhere. But if i see a better deal I'm going to close my eyes.

Yeah, I'd be REALLY careful about ordering from a site like that without knowing of someone who successfully got one.

If you're looking for deals (which it sounds like you are), there are a few good places to try: pricegrabber.com (but again, be careful if you haven't heard of the store on there), fatwallet.com, slickdeals.net, or wikidealz.com

Honestly, there aren't too many amazing deals on this camera out there. The best I saw so far requires buying a 20% Dell coupon on eBay. I'd post a link to details, but I figured out how to do that yet... :?

But again - be careful with those big lists of stores on pricegrabger... You never know what you're gonna get.
