Of course you realize at close distance the DOF of a 700mm @ f/8 is still <1/2 an inch...
-> This will remove any background clutters (and pile everything on the subject)

the dof is very thin....rain spoilked my plans today..((((((((

came across this terrific image.....1ds Mark III AF seems to work in bright sun. This makes me wonder the same thing discussed above....10fps causing the problem to the same AF system???

How?
f/4 with 1.4xTC and 2xTC = f/11 - Can the 1Ds even do that?

It's why you got to be careful with AI-servo at close distance!
-> When the camera dither back and forth in this mode you have less than a 1/3 of an inch to play with (i.e. from the above shot the nose and hair start to be OoF)!

With Stacked TCs the second one is not reconised by the camera only the first one reports back.

That's pretty good then because on a MrkII the AF point goes down to only the center point @ f/8 and it tends to get pretty slow in AF at that point with the 500mm - I have never try f/11...

Noooh - since I would have rotated the handle up so I could carry it and it also doesn't get into the way for shooting

BTW - on the 500 you can set the camera to one-shot AF, but program the lens button to kick into AI-servo when pressed, and that's the way I prefer
