I have a 30d and I have the camera set to 2 notches below on the exposure to avoid blowouts. I shoot RAW. I also use high ISO attimes and going on what ive read Im thinking maybe I should NOT be lowering the exposure as i do. Any thoughts? my aim is less noise when i use higher ISOs

noise wont be visible when the subject is properly exposed. If its too bright and u reduce the exposure its still fine.

UNDER exposure definitely will accentuate the noise.... specially in the under exposed are.

Try taking a pictue at really HIGH iso with a flash. Most probably u wont notice much noise in it coz it gets more light.

I reduce the exposure by atleast 1 to 1.5 in baseball games. The AV mode doesnt helpmuch to ligt it properly. Or may be i dont know to use the AV mode.

Here is one example...along with a noise reduced one
