i took my 70-200 2.8 and a cf card to the camera shop, and took some shots with a 40d, the first photo is at iso 640, the next is at iso 3200, this is important to me because i know i will be shooting in low light situations and wanted to see what i would get. and the 3rd photo is the #2 photo run through noise ninja

Avoiding brand wars...

Pretty darned fabulous I'd say. No concerns printing up to 8x12 IMO.

And back to the point on hand - I'm thrilled to see the results from the new Canon and Nikon cameras. Usable 6400? Who would have thought it possible? Unfortunately Canon got caught with their pants down by not pushing 6400 down to the 40d while Nikon pushed it down to the D300. But still, I'm glad to see QUALITY of photos being addressed and not just the idiotic MP war.

It looks like Sony made huge strides as well with the A700. The Oly E3 too! It's going to be an interesting year in the land of the DSLR

i sometimes get a feeling my 1d mark III will be obsolete in a years time :Gthats how good the competetion is

But after using the 40D i definitely feel that this is one absolutely great camera just undone by D300 because of its added featueres.

i am starting to love the 40D . Period...
