I am experiencing a problem with the half-press function of my digital rebel--half-pressing the shutter control should pre-focus, display focus points, display shutter speed, aperture, exposure index etc in the optical viewer. But instead pressing the shutter control does nothing that is visible through the optical view finder. However, Info is shown on the LCD screen. When the shutter control is fully depressed the camera appears to focus and it takes a picture. Information then is briefly flashedon the on the optical viewer.

It doesn't matter which lens if have on the camera.

Any ideas of what is causing the problem?
