will the new canon 55-250 is lense work on the canon digital rebel (300) camera?

Yes.

This lens will work on any EF-S mount Canon dSLR, and the original Digital Rebel (EOS-300D) was the first Canon dSLR with support for EF-S lenses.

thanks for your help. i have seen the canon 55-250mm is lense on b&h photo.com for $279.00 i have found it locally for about $329.00.i also was considering the tamron 28-300mm xr di lense.but i would like to stick withcanon gear.
