Default Canon 300D Mirror Lock-up and Macro

Hi, I am very close to buying a Digital SLR and like (mostly) what is being posted about the Canon 300D. I am interested in macro photography and seem to remember that the ability to lock-up the mirror was useful to reduce camera shake. Does the 300D support this feature (either directly or through the timer)?

Thanks!

Carl

Oh, and does anyone know if the autofocus can be set to use any of the 7 points when using the remote or self timer?

Thanks,
Carl

As far as I know, 300D has no mirror lock up, 10D has mirror lock-up.
Autofocus is a lens matter.
I'm not sure I understand this autofocus bussiness good enough, to answer that one. Take a look at dpreview http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos300d/ for a list of differneces 300D versus 10D

You can select any of the 7-focus points as long as the 300D/rebel is not in the Basic Zone or Automatic-DEPht of Field mode... Just select the one you like before using the remote or timer.

Rule of thumb

When using the remote of selftimer function, always use manual focus

Mirror lock up feature usually built-in to pro-level camera (more expensive camera). For the Rebel, to assure sharpness when taking close up or marco pictures, use tripod in conjunction with remote control operation and manual focus .
