My Daughter's Digital Rebel Xti will not turn on. Bought a new battery and charged it and the camera still remains in the off mode. I checked the voltage of all three batteries she now has and I get a voltage of 8.34 volts with all three batteries when freshly charged. This is very frustrating to her as she has a new 70-300mm IS lens and can't try it out. Any Ideas or help is appreciated.

Since I received no answers here I tried the same question on http://www.easysharersforum.com/forum/and got this URL below that told me what I had already suspected. Just thought it might help with someone else that runs into the same problem.
