Do I sound obsessed?

To charge the BP-511 is less than 2 hours. You should consider to buy the grip, it will take 2 of the BP-511 and will last over 1000 shots...

No kidding! I was shocked by how quickly the battery charged!

I've already got a second BP-511. Given what Steve said about battery life, I can't see myself needing a third one or even needing the second that often.

Christmas certainly came early! Two thumbs up for IbuyDigital.com
They even offered me free shipping on any additional accessories I might buy. These guys rock!

BTW their price for the package w/ the lens dropped by $4. This is likely the lowest price out there.

Yes, but with the grip, you don't have to change out the battery, when the first on run out, the second one takes over, plus you feel much better with the grip attachs to the camera, and so convienence for vertical shooting.

The grip is the first accessory item to consider before anything else, except the carry bag....cheers

Yeah, after an evening of shooting I see your point. I also sprung for a 55-200 lens and some card readers for my laptop and desktop (long story). Bank account is getting pretty low so I'll have to wait a little while.

I love this camera
