I know there are a number of them out there... I wonder if anyone can recommend one in particular. I'm looking for something to supplement my semi-useless user manual.

I find the ShortCourse books (http://www.shortcourses.com/store/) very helpful because they explain basic photography principles using the particulars of your camera. I had one formy original rebel and now have one for the rebel xsi. They offer hard copy books as well as interactive electronic version.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I ended up buying a book yesterday:

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/450D For Dummies

The local bookstore had a few XSi-specific books to choose from, but this one seemed to cover a broad range of topics... stuff I think I might find helpful.

Time will tell...
