Looking at my 18-55mm IS lens (looking straight into the lens, not through the viewfinder), it almost looks like there's a marble-sized bubble right in the centre. I tried to get a picture of what I'm seeing with another camera, but it won't work.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Could I be delirioius?

You could be delirious, but I doubt it. I think the bubble you and I both see is the view from the other side, through the wide open aperture. At least that's my story and I'm, well, you know...

So you're seeing what looks like a bubble as well? Believe it or not, that's good news to me. I just wondered if that's what I'm supposed to be seeing. I had a feeling it was just the light bouncing around inside the lens, but I wanted to know if other people see the same thing.

If everyone sees that, then maybe it's normal. More comments please!

The refraction of the complex glass element shapes, particularly on wide angle lenses, tends to make the the centre look a bit like a bubble.

If you look into the lens from the front and zoom it out to 55mm, the "bubble" will probably mostly disappear.

The bubble never disappears.

it's probably the aperture your seeing.

If it's not showing up on your photos, I wouldn't worry about it.
