Ordered the Tokina 11-16mm wide angle and found out its on back order, the shop has no idea whan there next shipment will be in. I went with the Tokina because of the review in the Canon edition "PhotoPlus". It was awarded the "BEST ON TEST." The Sigma 10-20 received the "BEST VALUE" award. Besides the 2, is there anyother lenses I shoud check into? How is Tamron?Price wise, the Tokina is about $600.00 and the Sigma is a little over $400.00. (I think.)

Thanks....

Perhaps the Tokina 12-24 would suit your needs, for less money. I faced the same situation, a back order, and decided to go with the 12 - 24. Sure it's a stop slower, but it's tack sharp and is a 2X zoom as opposed to a 1.5X.
I highly recommend the Tokina 12 - 24 ATX.

Shadonkachr,

Thanks for the reply. Have you had any issues with sharpness? Reason I ask is, I was looking at the 12-14 Tokina and PhotoPlus also had that lens in the test. To my surprise, the 12-24 scored second to the lowest. (Quote by PhotoPlus: Sharpness is disapointing, More colour fringing than most.)I thought how odd that the Tokina 11-16 scored the highestwhile its brother scored one of the lowest. Maybe I look 2 much into what magazines have to say. Here are the scores to lenses that were in the test. 100% being the best.

Tokina 11-16: 93%

Tokina 12-24: 69%

Sigma 20: 66%

Sigma 12-24: 70%

Sigma 10-20: 81%

Canon 10-22 & 16-35: Both received90%

Canon 17-40: 84%

I must say that those results surprise me. I have found my copy to be exceptionally sharp.
Message me with an e-mail and I'll send you a sample or two.
