Default Vivitar Flash with EOS Rebel Digital??

Does anyone know if it is safe to use the Vivitar 285HV external flash with the Digital Rebel? I've heard that some external flash units can burn out the digital cameras. I realize it won't work with the zoom, but I would very much like to use this flash witht his camera if it won't burn it out. Thanks

It's safe...the HV designation means it's a low voltage flash. I use mine all the time on my D30.

That's great. I never knew what that meant, the HV. It's a great flash and I like using it for indoor sports. Tks for the quick reply, got a game in one hour to go to.
