Default focusing...using back button on 5D

I have just recently started using the back focus button on my 5d *...I have set my custom function 4 to option 3, with al servo and continuous shooting modes. so far I am liking separating my metering and focusing, but I have a few questions. one being: I don't hear the auto confirm beep with manually focusing and two: after I meter with the shutter button do I need to keep it half depressed until I take the shot? thanks...hope this makes sense.

Hi Donna, I'm pleased to say these are easy ones to answer.

When in AF continuous there won't be a beep as the focus is always changing, also in this mode the exposure also keeps changing with the conditions.

When in AF Single then there will be a beep and if you keep holding the back button this will hold the exposure, if you let it go the focus won't change but the exposure can now switch for the shot you will take.

Hope that answers it for you.

Mark

Only for certain things, mainly if doing sport, for weddings it is always in the normal mode.
