Right. I got that when you mentioned that you thought they may have done it that way since an IS lens as a kit lens is common with it.

You never know though... They may have done some research on how steady an average user can shoot without blur from camera shake, given camera size/weight, ergonomics, shutter button design, etc.; versus using the traditional 1/focal length rule of thumb, and changed how they approach it for newer models. For example, a heavier camera model with more grip surface may not be as subject to problems from camera shake when pressing the shutter button.
