Default Speedlite 300EZ with 10D

I just got my new 10D last Friday and love it so far. I bought the Canon because I already have 3 lenses from my 35mm EOS 620.

I also have the Speedlite 300EZ that I used with the 620, but I can't figure out how to get it to fire with the 10D.
When mounted, the flash will emit the infrared focusing light and zoom the flash head when the shutter release is pressed half way. But when I take the shot, the 300EZ doesn't fire.

What could the problem be? Is there some switch I may have overlooked?

you won't. what you overlooked was the fine print that says you will need to purchase a new strobe for proper sync purposes. it must be an EX strobe. it uses E-TTL. your EZ doesn't do that dance unfortunately. it will be backwards compatible though. welcome to the world of digital. there are a few other strobe manufacturers that support E-TTL on canons digital line like sigma.
