Default Canon EOS 7D Problems

I have been reading reviews for the past few months and finally decided to purchase a 7D, i think its the perfect camera for my needs Motocross photography.
I have been Scouting the internet for a good price, but just received a phone call from my brother in law who has been chatting to the owner of a camera shop today who informed him Not to purchase a 7D at the moment as there is a problem with Ghosting , Has anyone heard this or any other problems with the 7D.

Kind of puts a dampener on my excitement to purchase this fantastic camera and fills me full of doubt.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Here's the Canon service notice:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/co...=2112&id=60427

It's the nature of new DSLRs - they have issues. Like most issues, this one apparently should be fixed via firmware. If you don't need the camera right now you could wait to purchase. If you do need it, I would say go ahead and buy it. There appear to be a majority of people that are NOT affected by it. As Canon has already acknowledged the issue I don't expect it to get swept under the rug.

it seems to only appear in very specific circumstances too. and keep in mind the people with any problem on a new camera are much more vocal than those without.

it does exist, but i think its limited to certain circumstances. probably a good chance you would not even experience this specific issue. and like john mentioned, it will be fixed soon.

I received my 7D two weeks ago, sold the 50D, and I have tried to duplicate the ghosting on mine and I have not seen it. My copy did come with the latest firmware, so maybe my luck is good?
This makes my seventh Canon SLR over the last 20 years and none have ever had a single issue.

It appears the firmware fix for the ghosting is now available:

Did mine Friday, I'm always nervous about firmware upgrades, (even worse, I have a photo shoot next weekend can't be without camera) but it went smoothly.
