Default How do I know its new?

I bought a T1i from a online retailer and wanted to ask how I can know the item is new? New as in not returned or previously opened. I have very bad luck with these sort of things.

With new camera's its tough to get an accurate shutter actuation without sending back to canon, which they would charge for.

So its difficult to say for sure. I would check out the packaging. are all the accessories sealed, and look unopened?

If you bought it from a reputable retailer, then I would not worry so much.

So the box usually doesn't come sealed, but I may be able to tell by the accessories being in plastic bags and such.

I bought most of my camera equipments from amazon.com and never had a problem. They came in factory sealed and unopened boxes with warranty cards.

What do you mean sealed? Like by a plastic wrap or a plastic sticker? All of the unboxing videos ive seen, seem to not have any sort of seal out of the box.

When I went to the store to pick up my T1i, there where no sticker or plastic wrap. All the part were in plastic bags when I opened at the store, they brought 2 out, and both were the same. It was at a very reputable store. It seems canon does not put plastic sticky or plastic wrap around their boxes.

You are right about Canon Camera Equipment don't have factory seal (taped). I bought Sony camera from them which has factory seal as well as an Acer netbook computer. I don't worry too much about purchasing from Amazon. They stand behind what they sell and they won't do a switchero on the customer by selling a returned item as a new one.

However, shoturtle is verry correct-

Sealing the original box the camera comes in was something that was common 4 to 5 years ago, and even Canon did it then. However, in the last few years fewer and fewer camera manufacturers are actually sealing camera boxes. Sony is one of the few left who actually does seal the boxes.

Have a great day and a Merry Christmas.
