Default Rebel / 10-D pre-purchase concerns

I am a photography enthusiast who used a Canon AE-1 for years. I want to move to a digital SLR. I have read the reviews on both the Rebel and the 10-D. It seems you cannot go wrong choosing either camera. Price is not an issue if the 10-D is worth the extra money. Any opinion?

Specific questions:
10-D: Is there a problem with red-eye?
Rebel: Any reaction to how the low light assist only works with the pop-up flash?

Thank you

This has to do with how close the flash head (ie a built-in unit is always too close) is to the lens axis, and an external flash will usually solve this problem... Especially when this external unit is placed away from the camera like in the wireless mode...

BTW there's always the anti-redeye pre-flash pulses feature which makes everyone close their eyes instead of their pupils!

It also works with an Infrared beam with external flash instead, if you don't like the built-in flash from pre-firing... But most of the time the low-light assist is not required unless its pitch dark!

BTW you can also use an ST-E2 infrared low-light assist with either camera...

Also, some flashes come with an IR AF assist light. Not all, but some.
