Default Cleaning Internal Mirror/Glass Canon Digital Rebel SLR

Recently I have noticed dust in the viewfinder of my Canon Digital Rebel. Through the process of elimination I have narrowed it down to the internal glass or lens above the mirror. I used a small blower to try to get the specks out but to no avail. It does not effect the actual photo (ccd is clean) but it is irritating and I want to keep my slr clean.

I am new to digital slr and am wondering if anyone can give me some advice on a safe, but effective way to clean the mirror and the glass or lens above it.

Would appreciate it!

If it won't blow out - don't touch it. The reflective surfaces are VERY fragile and any mechanical means of cleaning (brush, cloth etc) will damage them. So long as the sensor is clean don't worry about it.

If it is really bugging you, return it to canon for cleaning.

FWIW, I had bad dust / hair on my viewfinder for a week or two, finally it shifted, I suspect as a result of use (shaken loose) + getting a hurricane blower rather than the feeble device I was using before.

Best of luck, Brian

I've been living dangerously and have been blowing with my mouth whenever lint appears in my viewfinder. Gotta make sure I'm not drooling or eating crackers

A couple of people have posted this device/site and commented that it worked well for camera cleaning. I haven't tried it.
