No doubt in my mind. Even If i have not bought the camera yesterday I dont think I would of been able to wait till march. Only thing I really like on it is the higher FPS on video.

Could be good news for shoppers of the T1i if it brings the price down a little.

The camera may not come out till may or june. The t1i did not hit the store till late may last year, and it was said it was going to ship in march of last year. I would not worry about it

I doubt it. The T2i and T1i seems slated to replace the XSi and XS with the ways it looks now.

I think canon looks like it wants to stream line it's dslr line up. Not a bad move, complete opposite to Sony.

you might want to preface your choice of a winner as being for the video portion only.

Maybe selling my 40D wasn't such a bad move after all - this new 550D is definitely on my viewing list for a replacement, although it will be interesting to see if Canon bow to pressure from Panasonic, Olympus and Samsung and come up with their own 'mirrorless' APS-C sensor solution.

Nice video link DonalDuc - I know some might subscribe to buying a dedicated camcorder for video work, but I'm actively looking for 'creative' HD video capabilities in my next camera, and it looks like this new 550D scores well in this department.

But what gives with the price? $800 in the USA and 800 here in the UK (body only)... that doesn't make sense to me. I think it's been said before too, but what's going on with Canon's DSLR line up now.... are we not going to see a 60D after all?
