IS has other advantages. It makes tracking a subject easier for one thing. Also if the IS system has a pan mode that another plus. I can tell you from my own experience with the 7D, you will want every advantage you can get in order to get the most out of the 18mp. While it will not stop subject motion, any shake that is eliminated from hand holding will be an advantage to the 7D. The more you have on your side, the deeper you will be able to crop.

The IS lens is the lens with more options, if you do not want it on, just flip the switch.

i saw that.. my concern was the price that i paid for the 70-200 and i don't want it to just sit in the bag.. but if i keep the the 28-75 i like this range.. for interiors.. i have the 700 lens that i can't use.. so it would take a little longer to save the money for the 2.8 canon. and i don't know if the shop will exchange it then..

Very tough call. See if they do trade in on old lenses. I know adorama where I do allot of business at, do take in trades of old cameras and lenses.

they will .. the lens is new.. so that is why they are willing to do this. i'm within my 14 days.. that is why im struggling with it.. i know i could sell it later but i would take a loss.. so that is why i would like to get rid of it.. now.. if not i might keep it for my sony.. but if i love this 7d as much as i hear.. my sony is just going to be a back up.. until i come across another canon and i will sell my camera or give it to my son...

It is kinda of costly to keep both systems. You may want to see if they will take the a350 and the sony lenses as a trade in. And pick up something like a canon XSi body used as a back up. It would be a more cost effective move I think.

It is how they recoup their money. When I trade things in, some shops give me 70% or what they sell the used item for. So that was not as bad of a lost.

But since you are switching system. And since sports are a important factor. Your lens choice is very specialized and it is costly. At least trading in the sony system now will save you on the tamron lens, and may cut the cost of the canon system to something less painful to the wallet. Back up is nice, but it is not completely essential right away. Look at it this way. You have been shooting the a350 without a back up so far. So it is not really need right away.

The D300 and the 7D are the same price wise. But if you like the 7D it is just as good as the D300. The nikon 70-200 2.8 is even more expensive the the canon L lens. Just something else to consider.
