Default First gallery from 300D

I've had my 300D for about five weeks now and I've put together my first gallery of photos.

'Autumn on Ashdown Forest' can be found at:

Any feedback appreciated!

A nice set of shots, you must be pleased with the camera.

The shot of the tree withe the sun behind it has a strong impact for me, it looks as if it is on fire.

I remember as a kid the summer that the forest burnt down (think it was '47). The sirens were going all night and when we were finally allowed in to the forest it was a scene of total devastation.

It has grown back, but is only a fraction of its orignal size and beauty.

Nice Photos - you shoot the same qualities I generally seek in a photo - play of light, depth of field (in your case, literally and figuratively!) and nice colors. THX for posting.

Simon,

While my analysis of your photos is more emotional than technical due to my beginner status, I really really like 'em! The colors are very warm - all of the photos feel very "cozy".

Picture 1274 (3rd from left on 3rd row down) - I love the "lines" in the grass and how they and the angle of the trees from the right sort of draw your view into the tree.

Fantastic photos and some beautiful country up there!

Absolutely - photography is all about light. I'm always looking for interesting shadows, the play of light on objects, striking backlighting etc. Even the most mundane of subjects can come alive if the light is right.

Apologies for the delay in responding - I've been on holiday!

Great shots! I also have similar tastes in subjects. I'm curious as to whether you used any lense filters or touch-ups with photoshop or paintshop? Was it all camera technique, or also deft use of digital darkroom methods as well?

Simon, I agree with the others;great photos! You used the camera to frame your shots very nicely. The viewers eye is led to the colors of fall and the scenery. How many lenses do you have for the camera? I am still using my Olympus C-2100UZ because of it's zoom and point and shoot. I enjoy messing with the photos using PhotoShop Elements 2 and making my own slide shows. Happy Holidays, Shelton

I would like to know how you made the site. I seems to load pictures very fast. It also looks good over all :P

Right now I only have the 18-55mm EF-S lens. I'm contemplating purchasing either the 75-300mm IS USM lens from Canon or the 70-200mm f/2.8 "L" lens. The L will be quite a bit more expensive!

As for the site - it's a somewhat free public site. You can put up pictures there too!
