Default dilema with an option

ok i have my 7d and love it so far..big difference from the sony family..but getting to know it.. but here is the dilema.. a friend has 2 lens that he is selling.. the tamron 17-50 2.8, and the canon 28-135 IS i think its the stock lens. but he needs money and wants to sell either one to me for 200.. i don't know if i should really look at either..

i have the 70-200 2.8 IS canon. and i have the 50mm 1.8 for now.. just wondering if its a good deal.. and what one you would choose..

the 17-50 2.8 for 200 is a good deal. the original version of this lens is usually pretty good optically.

I agree with Dustin, the 17-50 would be my choice, it's a pretty good performer even wide open and for $200 you can't go far wrong.

Since you already have the 70-200 I would get the 17-50. I can't speak for its performance or how good of a deal it actually is. The 28-135 is a good lens and has IS but you can find these being sold out of the 7D kit new for $250 or so. Not that sharp wide open but pretty good in the 6.3 to 8 range. Also not a lens you would use indoor for parties, etc.. since on a crop body its not wide enough. Outdoors though its a nice choice.

The 28-135mm IS USM is not a bad lens, and is actually very fast in the auto focus department. It is my walk around zoom. The copy I have is pretty sharp at 5.6-9. So if you do need a fast focusing lens, it is not a bad option for a medium tele lens.

My vote is the Tammy 17-50/2.8 Love fast glass constant 2.8 and shallow DoF.
