Default Canon Xsi: Best Auto Settings

I am getting my wife to start using my xsi. I dont know it that well yet either but how can i set it to be auto or close to a P&S as possible for her?

Also how can I turn on burst shooting in the P mode?

There is a mode on the Mode Dial for that. Becasue it uses an icon, it's easier to refer you to use the manual. The Full Auto icon is on the Mode Dial between P (Program AE) and (Portrait) modes See Fully Automatic Shooting (page 44 of the Instruction manual.)

One of the Cross Keys is for that. See Continuous Shooting (page 63 of the Instruction manual.)

BTW, if you want to shoot continuously so you can capture multiple images of a moving subject, you should probably also select AI Servo AF Mode as well. Another of the Cross Keys is for that (page 60 of the Instruction manual.)

The fully auto mode is the green square on the mode dial. The P mode is similar, but gives you the option of more control, such as deciding when to pop up the flash or use RAW mode. The EASIEST way to shoot continuously is to choose the sport setting (running man) on the mode dial.
