Default New 50D!

Not that I should, but I've been comparing it to my Nikon D90, and I much prefer it (IQ, not ergonomics!!). Just a few days ago I "tried" to buy the D90 again but fate, it seems, would not let me. The user interface of the Canon is definitely more awkward and less intuitive than that of the Nikon, but I'll get used to it.

One of my friends from church has some nice L glass so I'll be asking him a big favour this coming Sunday!! For the time being I have my dad's 18-55 kit lens on loan - not bad for cheap glass on an expensive body!

55mm, f/5.6, 1/10 sec, ISO 1600, straight from the camera|unedited

100% crop

Amazing camera; I much prefer it to the D90 (which it is often compared to).

Highly recommended!

Nice pictures!

It's a great camera, especially with the Sigma 105mm.

Great pic and I am hoping to get the 150 Sigma but most money went to camera. ,y lens was a 50mm Macro Sigma. Will be using camera all week with kids sports and Pocono Race next weekend.

The first lens I bought was the 28mm, but it has hardly been on the camera since I was given the 105mm. I'm pretty tempted to sell the 28mm and get something wider, either a standard zoom lens or the 10-20mm ultrawide.

Just got Windows 7 x64 and installed all relevant Canon software, but the computer fails to detect the camera - I have a whole afternoon worth of images to transfer/edit and after two hours of faffing about on google/canon websites and installing updates/looking for solutions, I have made absolutely no progress.

For all that I hated Vista, my 50D was plug and play with no fuss...never touched the Canon software disk. Very disappointed that an operating system as sophisticated as Windows 7 "claims" to be is trumped by something as simpe as a USB connection. Poor show.

Turns out Windows 7 just doesn't see this particular camera; everybody has the same problem. Never mind - card readers are allegedly better than a USB connection anyway.
