Default 300D lens on10D

A friend of mine has offered me his 18-55lens which you get with the 300D for my 10D,1st Question will it work and 2nd is it as good or better than my Sigma 17-35

I have not tried it but according to Canon, that lens will work only on the Rebel (300D). I have both but I wont be using my 10D as the test unit to find out . It would be nice if it did work though.

UPDATE: The answer to that question is no. The lens will not even attach due to its design.

I looked carefully at all three and the answer is no. There is a design differnce between the 10D and Rebel just inside the lens mount that will prevent the 18-55mms lens from even attaching.
