Default Canon 5D MK III?

Whats the truth to a Canon MK III spirling on the net? any idea on the release and the mods from the MK II?

I am about to make the jump to full sensor and obviously dont want to make the jump to hastily. With the rebates for the printer and body... I would suspect Canon is dumping inventory.

Sounds like it, but am going to add the 5dmkIII to my line up when it comes out. It seems to make sense that something new is coming with the rebates.

I wouldn't expect a 5dIII just yet. The next cameras in the sequence would be the 1dsmkIV and the 50d replacement. Both of those should come before a 5d replacement.

Canon didn't go with a 2 year cycle on the 5D -> 5DmkII but rather 3 years. The original was in '05 and the mkII was '08. I'm with John, expect the 60D (or something) and the 1DmkIV in Sept and then March or possibly next Sept for the 5DmkIII. All of this is conjecture as there is nothing official.

I always say buy a camera when you need it as the price will always be cheaper later and there will always be something else coming. If you keep waiting for a replacement you will never get a camera

Everything is conjecture, look how long the 40D was out before the 50D was announced.....not long at all. You can watch a pattern but competition and consumer sales drive the market.

I've wondered if the 5D and 50D are getting close to being replaced. In Canada the prices on both these nice units have dropped significantly.

Usually a sign.

Is Photokina too early for a release of new replacements for these models ?

Price drop can also be attributed to the release of the 7d which IMO is a faster shooting 50D but not as sharp and release of the 1D MKIV. If I had to guess the next release is going to be the 1DsMKIV that will surpass the 5DII. Canon made a huge mistake by releasing the 5DII IMO with similar specs to their current flagship for less than half the price. That killed the 1DsMKIII sales both new and used. They are going to have to push the envelope approaching medium format to get anywhere now with a pro body FF.
