Default 10d and the 540 EZ flash

I am at present running 35mm EOS gear with a 540 EZ Flash. I am updating to the 10d, all the lenses etc are compatible but is the 540EZ..... or will I have to update to the EX series Flash?

I believe you'll need the EX series

you will only be able to use the 540EZ in manual mode (if available, I think it is). Only E-TTL (EX series) flashes will work with digital cameras.

The flash has to pre-fire to set its output, off the film metering (what the EZ flashes use) won't work in the world of digital.
