Default I'm devastated! I just found out from CNET ......

that my 1DS is a "prosumer" camera - :-)

Yes
The 1Ds is only half way to the output of a 22 megapixel leaf imager. And only about 1/5 the cost.

Actually I wonder what the definition of Pro vs Prosumer vs Consumer is these days.

Cnet product brief:

This is a beta product that is created by combining the knowledge of CNET's product experts with our database of product specifications and pricing. It is as accurate as the specifications provided to us by manufacturers and other sources...

The "knowledge of CNET's product experts" ???
Geez, I hate to read something written by their unknowledgeable experts :P

Wow, this guy makes me look like I know what Im talking about lol.

That is just probably the funniest thing I have seen that isnt a "BS" news thing on a respectable website. I'd do anything to get that camera for what I paid for mine... Prosumer, what the freak... lol

and OMG what am I gonna do now without a built in flash! Maybe I should take the left over money from my loan that I used to purchase the camera and buy a flash huh? lol

For what it's worth, it looks like their review is written by software. If you look at the review of the 1D, it uses almost exactly the same wording and structure of the review. And it says it's a prosumer camera as well.

But it does make them look really, really dumb.

I think you are right, Nikon dosen't fare much better with their canned reviews.

The D1H gets an almost identical prosumer review http://reviews.cnet.com/Nikon_D1H__B...4.html?tag=dir

The d100 is called a pricey consumer camera
http://reviews.cnet.com/Nikon_D100_D...1.html?tag=dir

The canon dRebel get to be destined for use by amature film or high-end snapshooters http://reviews.cnet.com/Canon_EOS_Di...1.html?tag=dir

NOTE: My SpyBot detection kicked in every few pages at cNet as blocking the of download the "Avenue A inc" spyware. :x

Thanks for that spybot warning. Time to run it and adaware again.

Ah, a bit of searching shows it as a cookie tracking system. I solved those with Cookie Jar.
