Default canon 60D

Trying to decide weather to get the 60D on my up coming trip to Asia. I was going to wait for the 5d3. But a bit worried that it will be a 3000 dollar buddy with the way the L lenses have been skyrocketing in price. So if it is a 3k body for the 5d3, that will have to wait to 2012.

So that brings me back to the 60D. I have handle this camera, and like the size and balanced of it. Think it will be a good 2nd body to go with my T1i, and gives me a little better high iso Image Quality when I shoot in the dark at 3200 and 6400iso. I am 75% sold on the idea of getting the 60D.

I don't think you should. You have GAS (gear acquisition syndrome). You don't really need it right now, and when the 5D3 arrives, you are still going to want it.

There are ways to hold off your craving for a few months; go to galleries, do a course, spend time working on your PP skills, build youself a photo blog, etc.

If you simply MUST buy something now, get youself a FF lens.

My philosphy is never wait!
Get whats available and I usually get 1 under the newest used right after the new comes out.
With that said the 5DIII is still very much rumor mill. I would put my money on a 1Ds MKIV beofore a 5DIII as the 5DII isnt that aged just yet.

A 7-8k body is not something I am interested in so the 1ds is out, LOL

Yeah the plan was getting the 5d3 in the winter of 2011, but with all the price jumps in L lens, I suspect it will be a 3K body. So that will have to wait till tax season 2012.

I keep playing with the 60D in the store, and find it to be a very capable camera. And the size is more to my liking vs the T1i which was a better fit for my wife. Decisions, Decisions.

I do miss the larger body, love the size of the eos 1 I have.

well, I was going to get the metz 58 AF-2 as my pet project for myself was going to work on off camera flash. Since that flash is 400 euros, and the 60D is 615 euros. I get a in camera wireless ttl to work with my existing ttl slave flash. So my wife's thinking is to fore go the metz 58, and just get the 60D. I like that idea.

I would say that the on camera trigger from the 60D (and 7D that I have) isn't as helpful for off camera flash as a dedicated unit. For example, I can do off camera with the flash out to the side when using the 580 as a trigger, I can't do so using the built in flash trigger. However, I would be going with some of the new flash triggers on eBay (I'm soon going to trial some) to make it all happen much easier and more controlled.
