Default Impression of the 60D

Okay, after a month of playing with the 60D, I am really enjoying this camera. The size and weight is quite easy to handle but the larger grip and frame makes it a better handling camera then my T1i almost as good as my EOS 1, but lighter.

The AF performance of the camera is very good, and the AF does a great job in very low light, it is faster then the T1i in that department. The 9 cross points make for tracking moving target off center a breeze. For good lighting, the AF is very fast, and match with my 28-135 there was a mark improvement over the T1i.

The photo quality is great, form 100-1600iso I can not see any difference between the t1i and 60d, but at 3200 and 6400 there is a seeable difference. 3200iso is very clean, don't be afraid to use it.

The LCD is great. The swivel is well design and it does not feel flimsy. And a plus, it makes it simple for self portraits. Something you normally do not do with a dslr. But now you can aim, and know when lv has a focus.

I actually like the new control vs the joystick. It is very natural to turn the back dial then push the inner dial like a push pad of the t1i, but with 4 more direction.

I am starting to enjoy the wireless flash feature. It is quite simple to use

So if you are looking for a upgrade form a rebel, this is a upgrade. And for 50D users, you loose the micro adjustment, but gain wireless flash.

Shoturtle,
Thanks for your hands on review. Thinking of making the move from the Xsi to the 60D, think it will give me some help for indoor basketball, since I can not justify the 7D...figure with higher iso, Fps, AF...would be a decent upgrade for me.

Thanks again,

Mark

It is a good upgrade form what you have, and it does a nice job for action. I was tracking some water skiing my wife did, and it did a nice job with the high burst rate. It is cost vs performance. And it is not a bad trade off with the 7d and the 60d.
