Default T2i Shutter rating?

I've not come across this data before so I must ask, how many pictures can my T2i take?

It is rate at 100k, but I would not concern to much about it. My T1i is at 60k already, and still going strong. And I know some XSi owner with 150k on their. Just keep shooting till it goes.

Isn't the T1i like 2 years old? With 60k photos on it?

My T2i is not quite a year old and I just broke 6k.

Yup, I got mine 3 months after it was out, so mine is almost 2 years old.

Yup, I take allot of photos, as I travel a ton. I have a 2tb external HHD to keep all my travel photos in. If I did not get the epl-1 last feb. I would be closer to 75k to 80k.

I have been to 90+ countries, well over 500 cities world wide.

Cameras are happy in your hands.
With me, poor cameras are just going around the neighborhood.

You must remember that rating is a Mean Time Before Failure.
Some bodies might go way past that estimate, others may give up much sooner.

I'd not worry and click away !
Worst case you can have the shutter replaced, if I remember Canon charges around 200$ or so for that sevice.

Even at 10k shots a year I'm sure I'll upgrade before the thing dies.

Kinda moots out all the worry points, at least for me. I don't get 2000 clicks in a good year, but I am working on that. We can't all be Shoturtle...

I went out to the Trumpeter Swan preserve on Sunday and snapped 300 photos (it was warm and so was I for a change, and the birds were active). Out of the 300 photos I figure I have 10 unique keepers, and one or two of them may go on the wall.

That puts Shoturtle's 30k/year in perspective. 300 shots at a time twice a week.

Peter- so if the 100k figure is the average expected performance, I wonder what their standard deviation is since 95% of the cameras would then be expected to perform within +-2 standard deviations of the mean.

would have to ask Canon to give on the detailes
I have never seen anything more that the MTBF figure given out.

Over the years I've been through several bodies, never managed to wear one out from use yet.
