You can forget Canon giving the 1d series focus system to the 5d

Personally I'd love to see at least the 7-series focus system in the 5dIII

I am absolutely sure the Canon 5D will get its own 12 point or 15 Point AF system while the 7D may retain the AF system untill 9D or something like that is out. 5D is still looked at as a prosumer camera which is not aimed at using the camera for fast action or some situations that require the faster AF system.

In fact the 5D mark III may definitely get a different AF system that is not meant for sports but for low light photography and portraits. Meaning spread out AF points with better low light focussing capability.

if they put the 7d AF and 28Mp into the 5d3, that $1000 or so difference in price would keep the 7d
Common most of us trying to decide between 7D and 5D2 would definitely buy the 5D for the 7D AF system and the 28MP.

I totally agree.
I'd be one of the first to queue up for 5D MK III even if it only had 7D AF system (provided its under US$3000, beyond that is a bit out of my budget) ... but I'd still keep my 7D for its 8fps

Some rumours say that it might be announced in March 2011 but I think it'll be more like late 2011 and by the time its available in the market, it could very well be in early 2012
