Default Well I did it, upgraded from an XSI to a 50D Refurb from CLP

I could not pass it up. I have been wanting to upgrade, and the CLP program put the 50D body on sale last week. I called, lady said they had 18 units in stock(sold out now).I got it for $560 with trading in a broken P&S. I was really nervous, because I am nuts on keeping my stuff nice. Well, it came in 2 days, this thing was perfect. Everything looked factory fresh, not even a refub sticker some say is on the body. Shutter count was 10. Maybe an overstock.
I was waiting for the 60D to come out, and just did not like it, not putting it down, but I just could not get excited about it. Would love to get the 7D, but just could not justify(wife opps) the $$.....I really like this 50D.....

Now I need to sell my Xsi and put some $$ towards a 70-200L....

Just wanted to share my experience.

Great!
BTW, for CLP, can I turn any broken Canon camera or does it have to be purchased by myself and registered?
My friend has a couple of broken (dropped in water) powershot cameras that I may be able to use if it's not a pain.
Thanks

No, does not have to be registered. I did not have one, so I bought a S200 2mp broken P&S of ebay for $10.....when you call them, they ask what you are going to send in, but I am not really sure if they wrote it down. Then they send you a shipping label, and they tell you it is going to be scrapped...Price was $703, then they took 20% off ($140)that for the $10 camera I bought off ebay!!!
Lady I talked to was really great, was a very good experience.

Nice!!!
I'm in the market for a backup pocket camera such as s95 or g11.
Lets see what they have in refurbished section.

PS: What number should I call? Regular Canon sales number?

Awesome deal, and I'm a bit jealous. I bought my refurb 50D from Adorama for $800 or so just last fall! You my friend scored big time.

Enjoy the new camera, I LOVE my 50D. I just wish it had the HD video functionality of the newer EOS Digital models.

Congrats, I love the 7D I got through the CLP. Mine was as near perfect as I could have wanted. Steven

Looks like CLP makes big difference on SLRs but not much discount for P&S.
The refurb S95 is listed for $320 and bottom line would be still around $280. ($320-20%+tax).
