Default canon 550D electronics problem?

hey guys,
My 550D is brand new, i got it around 3 months ago and havent really been using it very much....
i took a few pictures a week or 2 ago and they were fine, but today i picked it up and tried to take a picture but i keep getting these lines in my photos...
does anybody know what may have caused this?
its using the lens that came with the body and i have never dropped my camera or spilled anything on it....
any help is appreciated...

Try a different lens first to isolate the issue.
Or, take snaps without lens and see if the lines still appear although it may be hard to see anything.

I would contact Canon, I have a nasty feeling that you have a Sensor problem.

Do you see any dirt or markings on the sensor itself?
If not, it may be internal to the sensor that Canon has to fix.

I had a "catastrophic sensor failure" (Canon's words) after owning my 550 for three months. *You should call Canon and have them fix it.

It's possible that it could be a card issue or a card-reader issue.

Does it look like this on the camara LCD?
Have you tried another card. Not a cheapo one - a reputable brand?
