Default Question for 5D Mark II owners

Using the battery pack can you get more than the spec 3.9 FPS? Or does it only extend your battery time? How many more shots do you get on average?

It gives you two batteries at once and gives you the vertical grip control buttons.

I have not noticed any increase in speed with a grip, it just makes the body heavier

Ok thanks Peter. Was wondering. I usually never shoot in continuous mode any way. But nice to have if the situation arises. Considering investing in a FF DSLR. 5D Mark III is on my list. If it has the same features of the 7D. Maybe I'll just get a 7D. Well designed DSLR (have a Nikon D300 at the moment...great DSLR...but the 7D does things the D300 doesn't).
