Default Flash detection error on T1i

Please help if you can. I have a T1i with a Canon 430EXII flash. I'm not sure how long ago I used the external flash, and I try to avoid the built-in flash in favor of natural light. However, the camera now thinks the external flash is permanently attached. Pressing the flash release button does nothing. Built-in flash func. setting under Flash control says, "This menu cannot be displayed. External flash is attached." I've tried cycling the camera and flash off and on in various sequences and resetting all camera setting. I still can't convince the camera that no flash is attached. Is there a hidden trigger or setting I'm missing?
Thanks,
Dan

Never mind. I found my solution with a quick online search. There's a metal contact switch in the right side of the hot shoe that got stuck down, so the camera thought the flash was still attached until I bumped it loose. All set now.

there is a little switch that can sometimes get stuck in the down position. That is why hotshoe covers are not to be used with canons.
