Default First time posting and I have a problem.

We have a Canon EOS and cannot get the photos to download to our computer. This has not been a problem in the past, but now when we attach the cord to the computer it puts the computer into the restart mode. The Icon for the camera on the computer is active, but all the items will not come up. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Does the computer restart if you plug some other USB device into that USB port? Are you using Windows? Check the event log to see if there are any error messages logged.

Welcome to the forum.

When you say "restart mode", do you mean the computer reboots?

This could be an issue at the computer end. Are other USB devices
working properly on the same USB port?

Could you have a faulty USB cable?

Is the USB socket on the camera damaged or blocked? Those miniature
sockets are quite fragile.

Try a different USB port or preferably a different computer.

Try a different USB cable if you have one.

Inspect the USB socket on the camera carefully.
