Default Canon 7D Firmware 2.0 Update

The new firmware update for the Canon 7D is now available.

Lots of cool updates including a larger buffer for when shooting RAW.

I downloaded the zip file and extracted it. Got a "FIR" file that is about 17,000 K in size and some PDF files. Is the FIR file the one I need to install in my 7D?

Walter, All you need to do is copy the .fir file onto a CF card, then go to the firmware part of the camera menu. Canon does recommend taking the battery out of the camera for a few seconds AFTER the process is complete. Worked very easy for me.
