Default Please help me with tips for shooting

Just got t2i with the kits and the book called "from snap shots to great shots". Reading the book, been shooting about 100 of them on the weekend, and I was not happy with all of the pictures. They were either blurry or dark.

I am so confusing when to use the combine of iso, apture, and shutter. Don't know when to use, how to use, and what level of them.

Any general tips from experts.

Edit: the main purpose of the camera for family, vac, kids play sports, and may be some landscape, like most of users do

An easy place to start is Canon's tutorials on their website. A popular and good book for beginners is: Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. Both will help you understand how aperture, shutter speed and ISO work

Try setting the Mode Dial to P, and the Metering Mode to Center-weighted.
  • The lens is the thing.
  • 'Full Frame' is the new 'Medium Format'.

blurry tends to say to slow a shutter speed and dark. i would look at the your shutter speed before you take a shot just hold the shutter release down half way you will here the camera focus and you can see what speed is set.
