Default Canon DSLR breakdown of lineup

Is there a simple source or explanation of the different cameras in Canon's DSLR lineup? I find their numbering system to be confusing.. How does their lineup- line up??
Thanks!
Wes

Outside the US, it's a little bit easier:
  • The 4 digit model numbers are the low end
  • The 3 digit model numbers are better
  • The 2 digit model numbers are better still
  • The 1 digit model numbers are the top of the line

Its not the cameras. Its the person taking the photograph!

A good photographer can still take awesome shots with the 4 digit numbered camera! The 4 digit camera may be the 'low end' to some but mostly down to handling too.

True, but that doesn't answer the question.
