Default Zoom lens for 300d

Hi
Very happy with my 300D but looking for a better zoom lens than the provided 28-55 that came with the camera.

What lens should I be looking for ? I would like to have as much zoom as possible for less money.

Should I go with a original Canon EF lens or is there better alternatives

Have looked at the Canon EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 and the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III is that good lenses or is there better alternatives at the same price range ?

You could always buy my EF 75-300 IS lens. Used 2-3 months, but in mint condition. Send me a private message if you're interested.

I have Never seen a Canon 90-300mm. Is it an older model or what?

I find the supplied 18-55 very limiting. Nice and light but not that good an image and at 55mm, a bit short.

I'm pleased to say I picked up a nice metal 35-135 USM on Ebay. Much better glass, proper ring USM, and the 135 length much more what I like to have on hand as "standard". And the 18-55 is so light I don't mind carrying it around in case I need something wider than 35mm.

It's not a current model, but I saw several on Ebay before catching this one. If you're buying new there's a 28-105 I believe which would be similar.

I'm afraid as longer the zoom range is as worse is the performance. I siggest to buy two little range zooms instead of buying one big. The 28-135 IS USM is very-very good. And you can buy a 100-300.

Before I answer, it would be helpful to get a sense of how much you want to spend---If money is no object, then I would recommend the 70mm-200mm L IS lens-You will be amazed at what a great piece of glass gets you on your Rebel.

I'm using my Digital Rebel right now with the 17-40 f4L and 70-200 f4L- an awesome combination with this camera. I also have the separate battery pack, but after trying it I almost never use it. The camera balances beautifully with both lenses without the extra weight bolted to the bottom, and produces exquisite images.

You may not be able to swing both or either lens at this time, but do buy the best glass you can afford. It does make a difference.

Any EF mount will work with the 300D
