Default Tokina 12-24 II DX need opinions quickly

I did some searching on this website and did in fact find that the problem is in fact he ribbon cable. What happens is it rubs and eventually becomes unusable at certain focal lengths. Is this only in the first version of this lens? Or is it still a problem on the II? If the problem has not been corrected, I think it's a safe bet that I will be sending this back and looking into another lens. Any experience knowing if the problems have been corrected would be very helpful. Please advise

Has the above problem been resolved on the newer model? Or have they not resolved this issue?

LensRentals.com carries it, but it doesn't appear on their list of Lenses with High Failure Rates.
