Canon 70D

So anyone here put in a pre-order for the new Canon 70D? I didn't but my wife did, she was bouncing between the 60D and waiting for the 70D. After reading the release notes on the 70D it only took her about a hour before she starting bugging me. As if I ever tell her no. Now she like a kid waiting for Christmas to come.

It's a very interesting camera. Bring in the 7d focus array and Digic 5 image processor are good. Sounds like high iso improvements are limited to jpegs - raws on par with the old sendor. But micro-adjust is back. Swivel screen. And, for people shooting video or using live view Canon is trying something new for focus. All at a fairly attractive price point.

So, it all comes down to the focus system - will the new design cause issues with standard autofocus or will it be as good as the 7d. Will the new AF system greatly improve liveview focusing? If that checks out then this will be a very successful camera.

Should have also stated that this will be an upgrade for my wife from her current T1i camera. Wonder if she will be taking better pictures than me now? Oh wait, she already does out shoot me.:o:D

It looks like an interesting camera. I wouldn't buy one just yet.
If the performance of the new sensor is very good, I might be
tempted to buy one in a few months when any production bugs
have been ironed out and prices drop a bit.

I'm excited. I have a T2i and there was no reason to upgrade until now because everything from the T2i to the 7D used the same 18 mp sensor. I'm already saving for the 70D and it will be a big upgrade from what I have now.

I'm keeping an eye on prices and reviews. Like HavToNo, I have a "T" (T3i in my case) and have found no compelling reason to upgrade till this came along.

Another big reason for our (the wife) upgrading is the battery life with a T1i just sucks. If she can get 75 to 100 shots per battery it's a good day. We have four batteries, three after market batteries that as of last night won't take a charge and one Canon battery and none of them ever last very long on a shoot.

I think the 70d is a good upgrade from my t2i/550d so really good for you too. I am keeping an eye on the prices and the long awaited 7d mk2

My camera is a 7D and I will keep it around until they come out with a 5D Mark IV. Don't expect Canon will release a 5D Mark IV for about three more years but that gives me time to save up the money I will need to be first in line when it is released.

my only concern with 70d is how weather proof the body is ?
