for sports, it depends on several factors:
1) what sports you want to shoot
2) where you will be able to shoot from
3) what lighting conditions exist for the sport
4) what your expectation of quality is
5) how much money you have to spend

Every sport has it's own issues you need to consider. There is no single lens that will do everything.

Do not worry about lense now, after you start shooting, and learn some photography techniques, then you can start to check out lense.
