Default Flashguns -again! (Metz54)

Sorry to bore people about flashguns, but does anyone have experience of the Metz 54MZ3 with the 300D? How does it compare with the Canon and Sigma equivalents?

It's more expensive than the Sigma for sure (if not more than the Canon's) and is not compatible with the Canon's wireless as the Sigma is...

However for a dual-head unit nothing beats it! I have an older 45 series and it's like having a portable studio almost for an even illumination. Great for weddings...

Nothing beats it. The Metz has the double tubes, one for the main flash, and a second for fill. Put a Stofen on the main flash and aim it at a 45 angle and use the fill and you got it going there.

If you run into trouble using ETTL, which can be difficult and why they are finally changing it, you can change to AUTO flash. The same unit has both systems in it.

The only concern, is to make sure your unit has the latest firmware in it. Most of them don't, but it makes a big difference. You need to send it in to Metz and they will upgrade to the latest firmware.
