Default t1i/t2i live view autofocus?? how?

I am trying to figure out if I want to get a used t1i or t2i. One question I have come to and am having a difficult time finding the answer to is:

I know I can autofocus in live view mode on the t2i by pressing the shutter half way....can the same be done with the t1i?

TIA!

The procedure is a little different with the T1i (500D). With the T2i, you half press the shutter button to AF when using either the eyelevel viewfinder or the 'Live View'. With the T1i, you half press the shutter button to AF when using the viewfinder, but you press the * button (on the back of the camera just below the Mode Dial) when using 'Live View'.
